Meade DeVanuia Bryan, 67, of North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina entered heaven peacefully in her sleep on Saturday April 19, 2025. We can only imagine what her smile was like as she met Jesus face to face.
Born on November 29, 1957 in Kinston, NC, she was the daughter of the late James Urban Padgett Jr. and Barbara Jewel Odom Vick. She spent her early childhood years growing up on her grandparent’s farm, Doc and Jewel Odom, in Dobbersville, NC.
DeVanuia had the gift of making things beautiful, whether it be her homes or the folks whose hair she cut and styled. DeVanuia worked for many years as a hair stylist in North Carolina and in South Florida. Here at Ocean Drive Presbyterian, she was a volunteer at Hopes Kitchen Ministry as one of the hair stylists. She had a knack for bringing a smile to those she ministered to.
She was a founding member of Desert River Ministries at Lawndale Baptist Church in Greensboro, NC and also started Desert Streams Ministry at Ocean Drive Presbyterian. She had a heart for women who had suffered and were struggling with seeking forgiveness for their abortions. As one of her pastors said “Her passion for ministry and joy in service to the King of Kings was wonderful to witness."
She was a member of the North Strand Gideon Camp Auxiliary and loved to share freely what God had done in her life.
DeVanuia is survived by her loving husband of 24 years Bill Bryan, brother, Barry Padgett ( Debbie); niece, Jillian Padgett; nephews, Kerry Padgett ( Johnna), Dr. Joseph Padgett (Rema); great niece Madison Jewel Padgett (Morgan). She is predeceased by her mother, Barbara Odom Vick; step father, Bearl Vick and brother, Garry Padgett
