Michael R. Barrier

Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Joanne Barrier; daughters, Renee Fowler, Amy Bowers; grandchildren, Joseph Fowler, Miranda Fowler, Brandon Bowers, Sabrina Bowers; sons-in-law, Mike Fowler, Kurtis Bowers; sisters-in-law, Betty Barrier, Martha Barrier, Patricia Crooks; brother-in-law, Conrad Crooks; along with numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Michael was preceded in death by his parents along with his brothers, David and Greg Barrier.

A graduate of North Rowan High School, Michael attended college at Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina. After college, Michael served in the United States Air Force from 1966 – 1987. After 21 years of faithful and honorable service, Michael retired as a Technical Sargent. Michael married the love of his life, Joanne Crook Barrier on April 29, 1966. He and Joanne traveled all around the world throughout his service in the Air Force. Michael was stationed in North Carolina, South Carolina, California, Texas, Canada, Taiwan, South Korea, Italy and the Netherlands. Michael enjoyed serving his community, golfing and spending time with his beloved family and friends.
