Mickey Dewitt Hicks

Mr. Mickey Dewitt Hicks, 74, of North Myrtle Beach, passed away on Wednesday, January 27, 2021. Born on July 26, 1946, he was a son of the late Thurman A. and Lenora Deese Hicks. Although Mickey was born in Concord, NC, he and his family resided in Kannapolis, NC most of his life where he graduated A. L. Brown High School. It was while in high school Mickey began dating Judy Isenhour, with whom he would spend 50 years of marriage. Mickey was a graduate of Western Carolina University where he played both Baseball and Basketball. He was also a true UNC Tarheel fan and enjoyed attending games whenever he could.

Following a lengthy career in the textile industry at Cannon Mills and steel industry with CSI, Mickey retired as the Human Resource General Manager. Mickey enjoyed both fishing, golfing and time spent at the beach as well as in the mountains. It was following his retirement that he and Judy decided to make North Myrtle Beach their home.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Judy are his son, Brian Hicks; grandson, Carson Hicks; brothers, William Jeremiah “Jerry” Hicks (wife, Judy) and Robert “Bob” Hicks (wife, Brenda).

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials may be made in Mickey’s memory to the Lymphoma Research Foundation, Wall Street Plaza, 88 Pine Street, Suite 2400, New York, NY 10005.
