Nicholas (Nick) H. Stevens, 72, of Little River, South Carolina, formerly of Lawrenceville, New Jersey, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 8th, 2019 surrounded by family.
Nick was born in Springfield, Massachusetts, a son of the late Donald and Anna Stevens.
He received a Bachelor’s degree at Rider University and a Master’s degree at The College of New Jersey. Nick taught 6th grade in Lawrenceville, NJ at Lawrence Intermediate School for 37 years. He loved teaching and inspired his students to want to learn. Always thinking outside of the box; he built an appreciation for different kinds of music, taught them how to develop film in a makeshift darkroom, had them create specialty candles and books filled with their original poetry. There was always something exciting going on in his classroom.
Nick retired from teaching in 2006 and later moved to South Carolina to enjoy his passion for golf hoping for his 3rd “hole in one.”
He was predeceased by his daughter, Leigh Stevens. Survived by his wife of 45 years, JoAnn Stevens, sister Gail and her husband Tim Fohlbrook, daughter Christine and her husband Todd Tyner, daughter Kathleen Stevens and her fiancé, Michael Evans, grandchildren, Leanne Edson, Joseph Stevens, Danielle Edson and her husband Eric Jones.
