Richard Beasley was born in Washington D.C. July 30, 1934 and died in Myrtle Beach SC on May 15, 2024. He married his wife Alice in the early 1950s and they had four children, Beverley, Pamela, Donna and a son, Richard. They made their home in the suburbs of Washington D.C. Richard worked at a D.C. newspaper as a mailer his entire working life. His wife died in 2001 about the time he retired. They had two grandsons, Jayson (Beverley and her husband Charles’ son) and Nathan (Pamela and Tim’s son). He loved his family very much.
Let me tell you a true story.
Richard was lonely after his wife died. He decided to check out the Yahoo Personals dating service and sure enough ladies started contacting him. A woman out in Oregon had enlarged her dating geographical area to include Washington State. Yahoo added Washington D.C. by mistake. He had written on the Yahoo site that he would drive anywhere to take lady to dinner. Lois thought this will be fun, “I wonder if he’ll be willing to drive to Oregon?”
For a couple of months they emailed back in forth and found they had quite a bit in common. Lois invited him to join her in Las Vegas for the Consumers Electronic Show on a kind of blind-date. He said yes, and they hit it off. They did the long distance dating routine for a short time and married 6 months later. They lived happily ever after for 22 years in Myrtle Beach SC.
Richard was sick for only a month before his death and was hospitalized for less than a week. He died peacefully with family surrounding him.
