Richard E. Moncrease, Jr., 30, passed away suddenly on Thursday, August 11, 2022. Born in Yale New Haven Hospital, he was the son of Yolande and Richard E. Moncrease, Sr. His sister, Mary Elizabeth Moncrease and nephews, Jordan and Kaydan Moncrease, also survive him.
In 1997, the family moved from Connecticut to North Carolina. Richard began school in the Brunswick County public school district and was a 2010 graduate of West Brunswick High School. A proud veteran, Richard served in the US Marine Corps. Currently employed with the United States Postal Service in Ocean Isle Beach, NC, Richard worked as a mail carrier and was recently training for a supervisor position.
Richard enjoyed gaming in his spare time but most importantly, he loved his family. Time spent with them was treasured and the memories will live on forever. He will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends.
Also left to cherish his memory are his aunts, Loretta and Cheryl Housley of New Haven, CT, Ella Gore (Thomas) of Supply, NC, Joel Moncrease of New Haven, CT, Gloria Thompson (Gregory) of West Haven, CT, John C. Moncrease (Carrie), Douglas Moncrease of New Haven CT, Michael D. Moncrease of Atlanta, GA and a host of cousins. His paternal grandparents, John C. and Louise G. Moncrease and maternal grandparents, Robert Jordan and Shirley M. Housley preceded Richard in death.
Visitation will be held at Lee Funeral Home, 11840 Highway 90, Little River, SC on Sunday, August 21, 2022 from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m.
