Robert Thomas Barkley

Robert Thomas Barkley, 63, entered into the arms of his loving Lord and Savior on September 11, 2016 at home. Bob was a native of Gaston County, he was the son of the late Harold Glenn Barkley, Sr. and Louise Wright.

He was a member of First Assembly of God in Gastonia. Bob retired from Clark Tire & Auto after 25 years of loyal service. After moving to the coast in 2003, Bob continued to work at Home Depot, until January 2015.

Bob was an avid Runner. He finished many marathons, 10-Ks, in honor or memory of loved ones. A dedicated man to the cause, of which he ran the race not only personally but professionally with integrity, honesty, passion and great faith.

Bob was a Beloved Husband, Wonderful Dad. Left to cherish his memory, Selena wife of 27 years. His Loving Daughter and Son-in-Law, Catlin Victoria and Joshua; Ddaddy: Roger Benoy; Brother: Glenn (Becky) Barkley; Brothers-in-Law: Brice (Janet) Ramsey, Jr., David Jolly, Sisters-in-Law: Dorothy (Jack) Willis, Tracy Watts, Kayren (Stephen) Morrison and Lisa Benoy, Nieces and Nephews: Jennifer, Jake, Jerrod, Jonathan, Lucas, Breahna, Stephen, Jr., Cassie and Gabrielle. Extended Family, Louis, Kim, Sarah and Lillian Cabe. The Eller Family, The Bundy Family, The Benoy Family, and numerous Aunt, Uncles and Cousins.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by siblings, Shae, Kenny Joe and Sarah. Other loved ones: Mama Joan, Brice Ramsey, Sr. and Dock Ayers.

A Celebration of Life Service will be at 2 pm on Saturday, September 24 at First Assembly of God, 777 S. Myrtle School Rd., Gastonia with Pastor Lamar Creel officiating. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to service.

The family wishes to thank, Dr. Jeff Benjamin, Dr. Denise Whidby, Regency Hospice, especially, Stacey, Nancy and Juan for their loving and compassionate care.
