Robert (Bobby) William Champlin Jr. of Longs, SC, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2025, with his family by his side — including his beloved wife of 50 years and the love of his life, Susan Champlin.
Bobby was born on August 9, 1953, in Poughkeepsie, NY, to Robert (Champ) William Champlin Sr. and Elizabeth (Betty) Champlin. He was the older brother and lifelong best friend to Donald (Nancy), and sibling to Cathy, Danny, and Thomas, who passed shortly after birth.
A proud graduate of Arlington High School in LaGrangeville, NY, Class of 1971, Bobby went on to serve his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Era. After returning home, he followed his passion for the open road and became a truck driver, later becoming a dedicated member of the Teamsters Union.
Bobby is survived by his sons Bobby (Alison) and Dana (Denys), his daughter Crystal (Ricky), and his cherished grandchildren: Ethan, Emily, Owen, Braeden, Matthew, Samantha, and Sophia.
Bobby had a big heart, a magnetic sense of humor, and a presence that made him easy to love. He found joy in music — especially drumming — and had a lifelong love for Harley Davidsons, grilling out, and relaxing with a Michelob Ultra in hand. He treasured time spent with his extended family, including many in-laws, nieces, and nephews, always ready to offer a laugh or a word of encouragement.
More than anything, Bobby loved being a Dad and Poppa. He showed that love by showing up — always present, always cheering from the sidelines or audience, quietly supporting the people he loved most.
Poppa Bobby will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his spirit will live on in the stories, the laughter, and the love he leaves behind.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the American Stroke Association in his honor.
