Robert Peter Nelson

Our loving Dad and Paw Paw, Robert Peter Nelson, “Captain Pete”, sailed his final voyage home. He passed away at home, Monday, September 24, 2018 surrounded by his loving family.

Captain Pete was born on July 2, 1943 in Newport, Rhode Island. He served in the United States Air Force from 1961 to 1965. Captain Pete sailed boats up and down the entire east coast making life-long friends. He enjoyed fishing tournaments and being with family and friends. His biggest joy were his children and grandchildren.

Survivors include his son, Peter John Nelson and daughter-in-law, Patterson Mezick Nelson; daughter Holly Nelson Permenter and son-in-law, Chuck Permenter, both of North Myrtle Beach; grandchildren, Audrey Nelson, Charlie Permenter, Abby Permenter and Peyton Permenter.

A memorial service will be held at 1 pm on Friday, October 5 in Lee Funeral Home Chapel, 11840 Hwy 90, Little River, SC 29566.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to aid the flood victims of Hurricane Florence at P.O. Box 1116, Little River, SC 29566.
