
Robert Niklaus Stampfli, 79, born of Niklaus Stampfli and Dora (Lombard) Baker, passed to be with the Lord on October 19. He died at home in Longs, SC, after a courageous battle against cancer.
He is survived by his loving wife Carol (Lamonds) Stampfli, and Barbara Stampfli, his first wife and the mother of his children, Robert James (Melissa), David Michael (Patricia, deceased) and Jill Marie Mulderry, his 9 beloved grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, his step-children Melissa (Gordon) McCawley, Jackie Lamonds, Kevin (Jolee), Lamonds as well as his sisters Jolene (Creed), Sharon (Stampfli) and Bonnie Jean (Baker) and their children to whom he was a devoted Uncle. Bob was predeceased by a beloved pet, Nu-Nu, who brought a special love into his later life.
Bob is best remembered as a guardian of his family, his community and his country. He served faithfully in the United States Navy, served 28 years as a New York State Trooper and Instructor at their Training Academy from which he retired with valor and honor. He built children into young men by his sports coaching and high standards of character. His retirement to South Carolina continued his service to family and community through caring love of his widowed mother, family members, life-long friends and companions developed over years of loving protection, outdoor life, and co-working relationships.
The family will gather in private to honor Bob’s life and remember him with love. Memorials may be made in his name to St. Judes Childrens Hospital at 2101 Rexford Rd #165W, Charlotte, NC 28211.
