Ronald C. MacDowell

Ronald C. MacDowell, 92, of Carolina Shores, NC, formerly of Skaneateles, NY passed away peacefully at his home October 30, 2021. He was born March 8, 1929 in Syracuse, NY to William and Catherine MacDowell.

Ronald was a graduate of Onondaga Valley Academy in Syracuse. Having served during the Korean War, Ronald was honored to be a US Army Veteran.

Ronald married the love of his life, Claire Corbett, she was his wife of 58 years who predeceased him in 2011.

Following his retirement from the NY Telephone Company, Ronald and Claire managed Rogues Roost Golf Course in 1984. He then worked as a Real Estate Appraiser for Pomeroy in Syracuse. He and Claire visited the beaches and golf courses of the Carolinas for many years before eventually making Carolina Shores their home in 1993. As a member of Ocean Drive Presbyterian Church in North Myrtle Beach, SC, he served on the Session and worked on the expansion of the church.

Ronald’s pride and joy was his family. He is survived by his 4 children, Patrick of Fayetteville, NY; Elaine Chaffee (Robert) of Carolina Shores, SC; Richard of East Syracuse, NY; and Ronnee Chapman (Dyke) of Fayetteville, NY. Ronald was loved and adored by his 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Ronald sadly leaves behind several cousins and many nieces and nephews and great friends.
