She was the wife of Gary Travis Jones of Little River and the late Alfred Eugene “Gene” Parker.
Ruby was born on October 28, 1942 in Gutherie, OK. Daughter of the late Alva and Zona (Dickson) League. She grew up moving around a lot as her father was in the Air Force. She made friends easily due to her outgoing personality. She graduated from Enid high school and soon after met her first true love, Gene Parker, who was an Air Force pilot. They were married 50 years and had 4 children. Ruby was never deterred by difficulties. She cared for her sisters because her mom was very sick. She endured Gene’s deployment to Vietnam, multiple hurricanes, 4 teenagers, the death of a child and many other things with a strong belief that God is in control.
She had many different jobs including dental assistant, retail sales, network marketing, medical office manager and Emergency room registrar at Gulf Coast Hospital. She could do anything she put her mind to and do it well.
At 80 years young, she married her second true love, Travis Jones. Their love story was like a Hallmark movie as they had known each other for over 50 years.
She loved people, Bible study, shopping, finding seashells, telling stories, working jigsaw puzzles, dancing, playing games and sailing. Mostly she loved Jesus and her family. She never met a stranger and those who knew her loved her joyful spirit. She was kind and loving and sprinkled sunshine everywhere she went.
In addition to her husband, Travis, Ruby is also survived by her children Daniel Parker (Heather), Suzanne Shelton (Kevin) and LaDonna Alexander (Brad), stepdaughter, Katherine Padilla (Ralph) and stepson, Greg Jones (Tina), her 12 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren and her two sisters, Deanna James and Debbie Mayer.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sheri Hill.
A celebration of life will be held at The Greg Rowles Legacy Theatre in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina on January 25, 2026. A celebration of life will also be held in Panama City, Florida on a date to be determined.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Go-Fund-Me for her Daughter, Suzanne, whose home blew up the day after she passed.
