Sallyann “Sally” Gallagher was a caring wife, mother, nana, sister, aunt and friend. She left this world suddenly on October 19, 2021 at the age of 77 with her family by her side. Heaven gained a kind and spirited angel.
Sallyann was born to William and Agnes (Meehan) O’Malley on May 10, 1944 in Brooklyn, NY. She graduated from St. Patrick’s Cathedral High School in New York City and went on to marry the love of her life, Kevin Gallagher, of 57 years. They lived in Newburgh and Schenectady, NY before retiring in Little River, SC. Together they raised their daughters, Maureen Constable (Steve) of Hyde Park, NY and Colleen Wilber (Dan) of Millbrook, NY.
Sallyann’s favorite role was that of Nana to her four grandchildren, Megan and Riley Constable, and Jake and Abby Wilber. Anyone who knew her, knew they were her pride and joy and she always had a story to share about them. She was also known and loved as Nana to her many nieces and nephews.
Sallyann had a kindhearted spirit whose passion was caring for others. She did this not out of obligation, but because of who she was. Sallyann loved spending time in the kitchen, creating delicious meals for her family and friends. She was always the first to offer help and regularly cooked special meals for those in need. Sallyann’s laugh and humor were infectious and she was the life of the party. Those who were blessed to be touched by her understand that she left an imprint on our hearts and will always be remembered.
Sallyann was predeceased by her parents, her sister, Patricia Reilly of Floral Park, NY and her beloved son, Christopher.
While Sallyann’s family grieves her loss, they are choosing to remember her in a way that honors her spirt. A visitation will be held at Lee Funeral Home, 11840 SC-90, Little River, SC from 2 pm -4 pm on October 23, 2021. A celebration of life ceremony will be scheduled in the near future in New York for her many family and friends there. Burial will take place at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation in her memory to your favorite charity or do a good deed for someone!
