Stan was a loving and beloved husband, father, and member of the community. He grew up on farms in Illinois and Missouri. He attended the University of Illinois as an undergraduate and earned a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin. He lived and worked in West Virginia as a polymer chemist and earned numerous patents and awards for his work before retiring with his wife Mary to South Carolina.
Stan was involved in the community, volunteering as a coach for his children’s Little League teams for many years. Once moving to South Carolina, he and Mary volunteered with the North Myrtle Beach Sea Turtle Patrol and Current Transitions as well as helping his son Steven with his small business. Stan was also a devout, longtime parishioner of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in North Myrtle Beach.
Stan is survived by his wife Mary, his brother David and many cousins, his children Jean, Steven, and Janet, and his grandson Alex.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Current Transitions or the North Myrtle Beach Sea Turtle Patrol.
