

Suzanne M. Nelson, 89, passed away on Wednesday, December 11, 2024. Born in Detroit, MI, on November 27, 1935, Suzanne was the daughter of the late Russel and Felice Marie Breen Galorneau. She was the devoted wife of the late Donald Nelson, Sr.
Suzanne began her career as an Executive Secretary with the Chrysler Corporation following her college graduation from the University of Detroit. She later moved from Detroit, MI to Fairfax County, VA where she worked in the Fairfax County School system as an attendance clerk. She was a talented seamstress and loved sewing clothing for her children. She began needleworking as a hobby and won numerous awards for her beautiful designs and intricate skill. In her later years, Suzanne took up photography where she became an expert. She went on many photo tours of every continent and always looked for the most picture-perfect scene.
In 1986, she and Don relocated to central Florida where she became an active choir member at St. Mary Madeline Catholic Church. After full retirement, they then moved to Atlanta to reside with her daughter Debbi and husband. On May 16, 2018, Donald passed away following 68 years of marriage.
In 2021 she moved to Loris, SC. to reside with Don Jr after his retirement and relocation to Loris from Northern Virginia.
Surviving Suzanne are her children, Debbi Alex (Nick), Donald Nelson, Jr., John Nelson (Dawn), Stephen Nelson (Rhonda), Karen Fuhs (Jim); grandchildren, Caroline, Anna, David, Karrah, Quin, Tucker, Shane, Sarena, Melissa, Alex, Olivia; great-grandchildren, Theodore, Peyton, Emmett, ( new baby due early 2025) and Macey. Also surviving is her brother, Russel Galorneau and sister, Delores Lutfy and many nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, February 14, 2025 at Resurrection Catholic Church, Loris, SC.
