Thomas Edward Hester Jr.

Thomas Edward Hester Jr., age 67, of Calabash, North Carolina passed away on Thursday, August 25, 2022. Born in Durham, North Carolina on August 5, 1955 he was the son of the late Thomas E. Hester, Sr. and Hazel Sykes.

Thomas was a member of Grey Stone Baptist Church in Durham, North Carolina. A talented musician with a passion for music, Thomas played several instruments but loved his guitar. Being a dedicated and well respected employee of Sherwin Williams, Thomas retired after 43 years of employment. When he wasn’t working or playing the guitar, he enjoyed spending time with friends and family along with fishing, camping and being outdoors. Having such a gentle and kind spirit, Thomas was known for his love for animals.

Survivors include his loving wife who was his other half for 20 years, Laurel Hester; daughter, Hollis Savage (Alfred); son, Thomas E. Hester III; step-son, Gerald Robert McMann III (Terri); step-daughter, Kristin Audrey Rowe; grandchildren, Isabella Savage, Olivia Savage, Gabriel Little; step-grandchildren, Gerald R. McMann IV, Cassidy McMann, Amelia McMann, Raphael McMann; sister, Teddie Jo Gentry (Rick); niece, Michelle Worden (Kurt) along with his great-nieces, Kayla and Kenna.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 3, 2022 at Lee Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 2, 2022 from 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm at Lee Funeral Home and Crematory and on Saturday September 3, 2022 one hour prior to the service.
