Walter Dean Hill, 77, passed away at his Cherry Grove home in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina on February 21, 2022. Dean was born to Walter Thomas Hill, Jr. and Annie Lee Hill. He lived for many years in Monroe, North Carolina with his wife of nearly 60 years, Loretta Huneycutt Hill. Dean worked as an auto mechanic most of his life, and later as a cabinet builder.
Dean’s last days were spent fishing and enjoying the beach with family. He most enjoyed getting together with friends and family, or striking up conversations and making new friends wherever he happened to be, whether at work, on the beach, during an outing to the grocery store, or on his many travels with Loretta. A service will not be held, but those who wish to remember Dean with gatherings to celebrate his life are encouraged to do so. He will be dearly missed, and his family is thankful for the many good memories they have of their life with him.
Survivors include his wife and three children, Walter Scott Hill, Jon Christopher Hill and Cynthia Faye Hill Schoeppner; the respective spouses of Jon Christopher Hill and Walter Scott Hill, Angela Keels Hill and Joey Woody Hill; four grandchildren, Reece Hill, Rachel Hill (fiancé Dylan Howe), Anthony Dean LeBatard and Nicholas Schoeppner; one great-grandchild, Jackson Hill, son of Reece and Jessica Hill; and four siblings, Danny Ray Hill, Mary Alice Booth, Grady Reed Hill, and Elizabeth “Lib” Simpson.
The family does not wish to receive flowers, but those who wish to do so are welcome to donate to their preferred charity or church.
