William L. Gentry

He was the loving husband of Kathy (Lindsey) Gentry. They were married for 55 years, but together for 58 years.

Lanny was born on December 9, 1950 in Elkin, NC. Son of the late Ralph Franklin and Lillian (Shores) Gentry.

He was the owner of Gentry Air, Inc. in Greensboro, NC for 35 years.

In addition to his wife, Lanny is also survived by a daughter, Jennifer (Gentry) Gill (Gregory). Grandson, Evan Gill (Mikayla Dean, fiancé) of Greensboro, NC.

Two brothers; Rick Gentry (Cricket), of Pinehurst, NC and Randy Gentry, of Reidsville, NC and sister, Sherry Beeson (Danny), of Oak Ridge, NC.

Lanny cherished his friendships deeply and was happiest when sharing laughter and stories with the ones he loved. He truly enjoyed his weekly golf outings with his crew. Lanny’s heart was always with beach music. In 2016 they chose to make North Myrtle Beach their permanent home so he could be near the music, the people, and the community that brought him so much joy. Lanny was a generous soul that enjoying giving back to charities like T & R Cancer fighters. The family would like to give a special thanks to all the nurses of the 2nd floor at McLeod Seacoast Hospital for taking care of Lanny in these final weeks. A celebration of life will be held in Greensboro and in North Myrtle Beach at a later date.
