

W. Thomas (Tom) Haney was reunited with the love of his life, Roberta (Sutkaytis) Haney and Our Lord, Jesus Christ on February 7, 2024. He passed peacefully at home in Calabash, NC with his daughter, friends and his beloved “cat companion”, Misty by his side. Tom was born September 12, 1935 in Philadelphia. He resided most of his life in Holland and Churchville, PA and later moved to South Carolina and most recently, Calabash, NC.
Tom graduated from Northeast Catholic High School and later took evening classes at LaSalle University. He served as an Army Reservist. After working as a draftsman, Tom studied insurance and became a partner at the Dillon Haney Insurance Agency in Southampton, PA. He later went on to a solo career in the life insurance industry and was awarded his CLU (Chartered Life Underwriter) professional designation in 1981. Tom’s combined sense of integrity, passion for helping others and outgoing personality assured him the very successful career he enjoyed. Tom loved woodworking, the Philadelphia Eagles and travelling the United States and Europe with Roberta.
He is predeceased by his wife and soulmate of 64 years, Roberta Sutkaytis Haney, his daughter Laureen (Richard) Stott, his parents Julia Hasson and T. James Haney, siblings Regina Haney O’Brien, T. James Haney and John “Bud” Haney. He is survived by his loving daughter Kathleen Haney, Christine (Zachary) Dunkelberger and Thomas Matthew (Karen) Haney; grandchildren Thomas (Amanda) Regan, Daniel (Stephanie) Regan, Amanda (Robert) Brennan, Brendan Haney, 7 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Tom and Roberta will be held at Our Lady Star of the Sea in North Myrtle Beach, SC on Thursday, February 15, 2024 at 11:00 am. Interment will be private. Please wear bright, cheerful colors and ladies, in honor of Roberta, feel free to wear a beautiful hat.
