

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of William Vincent Meyer, age 80, of Little River, South Carolina. Mr. Meyer passed away peacefully on June 22, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. Born on January 18, 1944, in Wilmington, North Carolina, he was a son of the late Vincent and Ellen Rose Meyer.
He is survived by his devoted wife of almost 45 years, Kathleen Sobotka Meyer; sons, Kevin Meyer, Vincent Meyer, Keith Meyer, Steven Meyer (Anna); sister, Cheryl Hickein; grandchildren, Channing, Emma, Kyle, Adalinn; along with several nieces and nephews. William was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Kenneth Meyer.
A veteran of the United States Army, William was a proud and humble patron. He was a gun enthusiast who was a member of the NRA and Ant Hill Gun Club. William was also a concealed weapons permit instructor. He had a great deal of knowledge, passion and respect for firearms. William had a successful career in aviation. He was a retired corporate pilot that worked for AVX Corporation in Myrtle Beach along with several other companies. Known for his high level of intelligence, he was commonly referred to as a “walking encyclopedia” by his family. He was currently working on becoming fluent in Spanish. William had a simplistic demeanor and enjoyed the little things in life. He thoroughly enjoyed bird watching and feeding the birds that would visit his yard. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date by the Meyer family. Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice in memory of William.
