

William John (Bill) Trimble, II, 93, passed away at home, January 3, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sophia and William John Trimble, his sister Joan, three brothers, and youngest son Gregory Allen Trimble.
He is survived by his loving wife Ida; his sister Patsy; oldest son William John Trimble, III; grandchildren Desiree, William John Trimble, IV and Justin Miller Trimble; great-grandchildren Cody and Jade; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Bill’s long-time friend, Rod Clay, described him as having a “unique zest for life” which was exemplified through his devotion to family and his passion for deep sea fishing, football and his love of horseracing, which he shared with his late father.
Bill studied engineering at Carnegie Mellon University. He returned to New Jersey where he bought an excavator, which he ran himself installing utilities for developers. He was highly respected for his work as Project Engineer and Superintendent for Catalytic Construction in the 1950’s. It was then he met Ida, the love of his life. He later became partner and Vice-President of Hobet Mining, which later became Ashland Coal.
In 1982, Bill and his dear friend, Dan Flesher, founded Trimble Engineers and Constructors. Through this company they built many coal plants and water towers among other achievements. Bill retired to Little River, SC where he enjoyed fishing on the “Wild Bill”.
A Memorial Service will be held at Lee Funeral Home in Little River on Saturday, January 16, 2021 from 1 - 3 pm.

Bill was deeply loved and will be missed by all of his family and friends.
