

Evelyn Hart Mitschele lived in Livingston since 1930 and was the late wife of Ralph E. Mitschele. She was a member of the Federated Church of Livingston (formerly Livingston Baptist Church) since 1939. She moved to Williamsburg, VA in May, 2010 where she passed away on Saturday, September 29, 2012.
Evelyn was Director of Music and Choir Director of the Federated Church of Livingston and their yearly sacred concerts as well as the Show Tunes Revue held every Fall.
An accomplished singer, she presented many solo recitals including Carnegie Hall, NYC. She was the lead soprano in many shows, operas (sang the lead soprano roles in Mme. Butterfly, Boheme, Traviata and Die Fiedermaus as well as many musicals) and sang many years in sacred oratorio and church services.
As co-President of the Livingston Arts Association for many years, she won numerous awards for oil and watercolor paintings.
She was a life member of the Livingston Historical Society and refurbished the collection of wedding gowns on exhibit at the Force Home, headquarters of the Society. She studied fashion design, illustration and fabrication at Traphagen School of Fashion, NYC, as well as portrait painting at the Art Sutdents’ League, NYC, and the NJ School of Visual Arts in Summit.
She was a long-time member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
She is survived by her daughters, Catherine L. Mitschele and Carol E. Klotz, her beloved son-in-law Robert Klotz, her son Ralph E. Mitschele, Jr., three grandchildren, one great grandchild and adored sister’s (Alice Hart Green) children.
Her family will receive friends at the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home of Livingston, 145 E. Mt. Pleasant Ave., on Thursday, 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Everyone is invited to attend the funeral service at the Federated Church of Livingston, 6 West Mt. Pleasant Ave., Livingston (West Mt. Pleasant Ave. at North Livingston Ave.) on Friday at 11 AM. Private cremation will follow. Donations in her memory to her beloved Federated Church of Livingston would be greatly appreciated.
