Florence Infante of West Orange, NJ passed away peacefully of natural causes on Thursday, June 4, 2015. She is survived by her sister-in-law Vilma Infante, her nephews William Infante, Robert Infante, JP Muir, and Scott Pfluger; her nieces Sarah Muir, Barbara Infante, and Betina Infante; and her nine grand-nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Norma Foerderer, her brother Joseph Infante, and her niece Carol Susan Pfluger.
Born December 26th in Newark, NJ, Florence was the eldest child of Joseph and Giovanna Infante. Florence graduated from Seton Hall University with a Bachelor of Science degree. She worked at Sterling Drug in New York City for over 40 years. She started in Accounting, worked her way up to a senior position in Human Resources, and was able to retire almost 30 years ago.
Florence enjoyed the best things in life. She loved cooking and was an expert in the art from Italian to Chinese to French cuisine, and everything in between. She loved to travel and she visited places like Antarctica, Morocco, Thailand, and many other countries across Asia, Europe, and the Americas. She adored the Opera and was heavily involved in the New Jersey Opera Guild literally until the day she died. She held the title of President of the Opera Guild for over 15 years. Above all else, she adored her family and friends. She spent time with them doing special things: ballet in the city, plays at the Papermill Playhouse, personal cooking classes with her nieces and nephews, and cooking traditional meals and holidays classics with homemade Italian delicacies that can’t be found anywhere but in her kitchen. Florence was a powerful force in the Infante family. She reminded us about the important values in life: honesty, integrity, family, community, forthrightness, faith and much more. We will all miss her very much.
Visiting hours will be on June 8th 4:00-7:30pm at the Quinn Hopping Funeral Home at 145 E Mount Pleasant Avenue in Livingston, NJ. The funeral will be held on June 9th at 10:00am at St Joseph’s Church at 44 Benvenue Avenue in West Orange, NJ. A reception will follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Florence’s memory to the Several Sources Shelter in Ramsey, NJ (severalsourcesfd.com) would be greatly appreciated by her family.
