

He was born on August 20, 1931, in Newark, NJ to Thomas “Tony” Roma and Rose Piegaro. He married Sandra DeBella on April 21, 1957, and together they built a life filled with love, laughter, family, and dear friends.
George was a long-time resident of Livingston, NJ before moving to Chester. The first in his family to graduate from college, George earned a B.S. in Accounting from Seton Hall University. A proud U.S. Army veteran, he went on to a distinguished career in business, serving as Vice President of Sweet-Orr and later as Owner and President of Newco Uniform Co. before his retirement.
More than anything, George treasured his family and friends, and they, in turn, adored and admired him. Affectionately known as “Pop-Pop”, George cherished every moment spent with his family and never missed a game, event, or celebration.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 68 years, Sandra (née DeBella); his loving daughter, Dara Figueroa (Antonio); his six cherished grandchildren—Ricky (Kelly), Garett (Katie), Kirsten, Gabriella (Greg), Michael, and Gregory—and his five great-grandchildren, Sloane, Sophie, Nico George, Roma, and George. He was predeceased by his beloved son, Robert Roma (Kitty), and his siblings Gaetano Roma and Marie Montrose.
George will be remembered for his generosity, selflessness, and zest for life. He was the life of the party, always bringing laughter and joy to every gathering. He cared deeply for those around him, making sure everyone felt loved and supported. His inspiring spirit left a piece of himself in all who were lucky enough to know him.
George was a remarkable man whose love and spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed, yet forever remembered with love.
In his memory, the family asks that acts of kindness be carried out in George’s honor, reflecting the way he lived his life.
Funeral mass will be offered on Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at 11AM, at St. Philomena's Church, Livingston, NJ. Burial will be private.
