John Joseph Jones Jr.

Dec. 12, 1932 - April 20, 2020

It is with great sadness that the family of John J. "Jay" Jones Jr., 87, announced his passing on April 20, 2020, at the New Jersey Veterans Home at Paramus.

Born Dec. 12, 1932, in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was the first son of the late John J. and Anna Higgins Jones. He grew up in Brooklyn and graduated from Regis High School in Manhattan in 1950. He went on to serve in the U.S. Navy from 1952 to 1954. He received a bachelor's of business administration from St. John's University in 1957 and a master's of business administration from New York University in 1960.

Jay had a successful career on Wall Street in the financial services industry for over 35 years at companies including Bear Stearns, Oppenheimer and Goldman Sachs. He was a man of strong faith. Spending time with his family was his greatest joy. He will be sorely missed.

Jay will be lovingly remembered by his five children: son Michael Kevin of Chatham, N.J.; son Brian of San Francisco, Calif.; son Dennis William (wife, Emily) of Basking Ridge, N.J.; son Christopher John (wife, Kathleen) of Brookhaven, Ga., and daughter, Debra Anne Jones (husband, Carlos Henriquez) of Kearny, N.J. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Betty Jones Fasciana; his four grandchildren, Patrick James Jones, Nicholas Brady Jones, Teresa Stewart Jones and Isabella Henriquez-Jones, and his two siblings, brother, William, and sister, Ann Klose. Jay was preceded in death by brother, Michael.

A celebration of his life will be held at St. James Catholic Church in Basking Ridge in the fall.
