

Visitation will be held at the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 145 E. Mount Pleasant Ave, Livingston, on Monday, March 20 from 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm. A funeral service will be held at the Livingston Presbyterian Church, 271 W. Northfield Rd., Livingston, on Tuesday, March 21 at 10:30am.
Born in Laurel, IA, Mrs. Whitman graduated from the Iowa State Teachers College (now the University of Northern Iowa) and received her master’s degree from Wisconsin State College (now University of Wisconsin). She taught in both military schools and missionary schools in Japan, which is where she met her late husband of 48 years, William C. Whitman.
Mrs. Whitman was a long-time resident of Livingston, where she was the Senior Citizen Coordinator for many years until she retired in her 80s. She was also a member, deacon, and elder of the Livingston Presbyterian Church and a member of the Livingston Historical Society.
She was the beloved wife of the late William C. Whitman. She was the beloved sister of the late Phyllis Cosby, Wilma Sietmann, and Clifford Sietmann and is survived by her sister, Orrell Veren of Haverhill, IA. She was the loving mother of three children, Mark of Rutherford, NJ, Sarah and her husband Abe Witonsky of Philadelphia, PA, and Mary of Glenside, PA, and the loving grandmother of Caitlin and Lauren.
