Marie Gioiello

Marie Gioiello (Specchio), age 97, passed away on Monday July 21, 2025 in Hermitage Tennessee. She was born on May 5, 1928 in Valenzano, Italy to Rocco and Palma (Vitucci). Marie lived most of her life in Newark, New Jersey before moving to Tennessee in 2016.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Anselmo (Tee), son-in-law Peter Santora, sisters Rose D’Orazio and Anne Irene and brothers Pasquale and Michael.

She is survived by her daughters Lucille Santora and Mary Ann DeVito Chianca, grandchildren Anthony DeVito III and wife Danielle, Carly DeVito Jannelli and husband Damon Jannelli, Peter Santora Jr. and wife O’Livia, Christopher Chianca and wife Anna, great grandchildren Vito Scarpa, Christopher Chianca, Gianna Grace Santora and Sofia DeVito. Also survived by sister-in-law Adeline Specchio, brother-law Sandy Irene and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 145 E. Mt. Pleasant Avenue, Livingston, NJ, on Sunday, July 27, 2025 from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, July 28, 2025 at St. Lucy’s R.C. Church, 118 7th Avenue, Newark, NJ 07104 at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Glendale Cemetery, 28 Hoover Avenue, Bloomfield, NJ 07003.
