Mrs.Dunmyer is a fond memory. I was in her OLL class in the 70s. I remember her Irish dancing, her gentle way of teaching us to read properly. I met her once years later in Pathmark and gave her a big hug. Wishing you peace, Mrs.Dunmyer.

My belated sympathies.  Was a student of her in the 70's.  Without her Irish dancing assemblies I would have had to endure way to much agony in the classroom.  You'll be missed.

My deepest sympathies. I remember Mrs. Dunmeyer as my 5th grade teacher at OLL. She taught us Irish songs which we then performed in front of the school & parents. I can still remember the words to those songs after all these years so when I sing "An Irish Lullaby" or "Dear Old Donegal" to my daughter, I always think of Mrs. Dunmeyer!

My name is Greg Thomas (Muppet)and I graduated with your son, Tim from Oratory in 1982. I always wanted to meet you. I never got the chance. Forgive me, it was my fault and not your son's. If I had, I would have told you what I am about to say now. Tim is the best son a mother could have and that is thanks to you. He loved you dearly and always spoke highly of you to me. I always saw you, through his eyes and smile. :) I hope you sleep well in heaven knowing just that.

Please accept my deepest sympathy at this time. I work at the Chelsea and have enjoyed your mother's witty stories
and charming personality for a number of years. My favorite memory is about her and Ann Chenevey telling their school day experiences with the nuns in boarding school. I will miss your mother very much.

My condolences to you and your family, Tim.  I only met your mom a few times but she was just so cute and so sweet.  I'm so sorry, again, for your loss.

My condolences to the family for your loss. I was a student of Mrs. Dunmyer's at OLL, back in the '70s. I am forever grateful to her for her expert grammar instruction, as I rely on it now to make my living as a writer. She was, in fact, the very first teacher of mine to recognize and encourage my writing talent. She saw it long before I did. Rest in peace, Mrs. Dunmyer. One day, we'll do an Irish dance together on the other side. Of this, I am certain. Thank you for everything.

I, like my 2 sisters, also had Nora Dunmyer as a teacher and Irish step dancing instructor while attending Our Lady of the Lake in Verona. I remember her vibrancy, those big baubbly bright neckaces and matching earrings (she really brightened up the dark halls of OLL) and her determination to make each of us succeed in her class. Rest in Peace dear Mrs. Dunmyer.

Mrs. Dunmeyer, You alwayz maid inglish clas fun. Eye think my grammatical experteese reely impruved bee cause you were my teecher!! (ps my grammar is fine!!) I remember how much fun you liked to have while teaching, so i returned the favor.. You will be missed.

I am very sorry for you loss. Mrs. Dunmyer was a wonderful teacher and a kind lady. She was my English teacher and Irish Dancing teacher at Our Lady of the Lake in Verona. I can still dance, and recite my "to be" verbs as of today, 33 years later. I am blessed to have had her as my teacher. I remember her electric teapot steaming in the corner of the classroom as if it were yesterday. God Bless you Mrs. D. Rest in peace.

Deepest condolences for your loss.  I am 32 years old and just the other day I remembered how Mrs. Dunmyer always said to remember how to spell desserts vs desert..."2 s's in desserts, because you want 2 desserts!"

I probably never knew at the time the value of a good teacher---a sense of humor, kind, quirky and of course effective. Although it has been over 20 years, I miss you dearly. Thank you for all you were.

Your mother was mY 5th grade teacher 24 years ago. I have very fond memories of her and was exchanging funny stories about her on facebook today with classmates of the same year and many years when she taught at Sacred Heart School in Bloomfield. She touched so many lives. My thoughts are with you and your family as you celebrate her life and mourn her loss.

I have many fond memories of your mother. One of my fondest memories is when she gave me some very valuable advise. "When you get home after a day of teaching, brew yourself a cup of tea, take it to your favorite chair, and savor the aroma, the taste, and the peace and quiet that will soothe your mind, body, and soul." 

Thank you, Nora, for sharing this wise advice with me. During the last 19 years of my 41 year career, your advice saved my sanity.
