Ralph Emery Deter, Sr.

Ralph Emery Deter, Sr. age 92, of Livingston, NJ, passed away peacefully on Saturday September 25, 2021. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 145 E. Mt. Pleasant Avenue, Livingston, NJ, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Philomena Church, 396 South Livingston Avenue Livingston, NJ, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery East Hanover, NJ.

Ralph was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He enjoyed being an active part of his grandchildren’s lives. He has resided in Livingston for over 60 years and was a faithful member of St. Philomena Church serving as an usher for many years. Ralph was also a member of the Livingston Old Guard. Ralph was a carpenter by trade and was a member of the Northeast Carpenters Union of Edison, NJ. He proudly served his country in the Air Force during the Korean War.

Ralph was predeceased by his beloved wife of 70 years, Vera Deter and his daughter Marilyn Gebhardt and her late husband Al. He is survived by his devoted children Debbie Seay, Gary (Carol) Deter, Ralph Deter, Jr. and Barbara (Greg) Menarguez, his loving grandchildren Rob, Michael, Bobby, Matt, Kristen, Aaron, Sean, Kevin, Brian and 8 great-grandchildren.
