Alan Joseph Kusek, DDS

Alan was born on February 14, 1941 in Columbus, Nebraska to Adam and Evelyn (Warholoski) Kusek. After graduating from Saint Bonaventure High School in Columbus, Nebraska, he went on to the University of Nebraska where he graduated with a Doctorate in Dentistry in 1965.

On July 16, 1966, Alan married the love of his life, Elizabeth (Betty) Ann Jordan. From 1966 to 1968, he was stationed in Fort Gordon, Georgia in the United States Dental Corp. During this time, Alan proudly earned the rank of Captain. In 1968, after leaving the military, he and Betty made their way to Longmont, Colorado. Their two sons, Patrick and Kyle, were born in Longmont.

From 1968 to 2005, Alan owned and operated his own dentistry practice in the Longmont Dental Building. After retiring from private practice, he volunteered his dental services to several nonprofit organizations, and from 2008 to 2016 he worked at InnovAge as a dentist. He also participated in medical-dental missions to Guatemala and Bolivia.

Throughout his life, Alan served as a member of several organizations, including Sertoma, the Boulder County Dental Association, and the Boulder Dental Forum. Alan was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and Community Food Share. He was also passionate about golf, enjoyed reading and watching videos on how to improve his game, and played golf regularly with friends and family. Alan also thoroughly enjoyed traveling, skiing, photography, spending time with family, and watching his grandkids play sports.

Alan is preceded in death by his parents.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Betty Kusek of Longmont, CO; sons Patrick Alan Kusek (wife Tamara) of Westminster, CO and Kyle David Kusek (wife Brittany) of Denver, CO; grandchildren Calvin of Washington, D.C., Alex and Addison of Westminster, CO, and Lily and August of Denver, CO. Alan is also survived by numerous cousins in Nebraska and his beloved dog Murphy.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Longmont Meals on Wheels.

A Celebration of Life for Alan will be held on Saturday, January 13th, 2024 from 12:00 to 3:00pm at Shupe Homestead, 11931 N. 61th St., Longmont, CO. A light lunch and drinks will be provided.
