
Ann P. Nevin of Longmont died on March 3, 2007 at HospiceCare of Boulder and Broomfield Counties. She was 59.Ann was born in Rochester, New York, on August 12, 1947 to Ralph and Janette (Taylor) Parker and was raised in Livonia, New York. She married William (Bill) Nevin on March 23, 1973, in Medina, New York. Bill preceded her in death in 1975.She received her Bachelors Degree in Psychology from State University of New York, Potsdam, and her Masters Degree in Counseling from State University of New York, Brockport. Ann worked as a psychotherapist and probation officer in New York. She moved to Longmont in 1980 where she continued her career in probation ? receiving the Colorado Probation Officer of the Year Award in 1988.Ann was a tireless advocate for battered women and their children ? through volunteer work in New York and in her 20 year association with the Longmont Coalition for Women in Crisis where she served as a member of the Board of Directors and, later, worked as a counselor and clinician. Ann was in private practice as a psychotherapist until her retirement in January, 2007.Her commitment to our community was evident in her many volunteer endeavors, including serving on the Board of Directors of the Longmont Symphony and as a member of the Longmont Ending Violence Initiative (LEVI). She also worked with the Longmont Senior Center, where her vision was instrumental in the formation of a Longmont Task Force focusing on domestic violence and sexual assault in older adults.An is survived by her brothers Pete Parker and his wife Cheryl of Centennial, Colorado, Dave Parker of Sodus Point, New York; her niece Tish Mullin and her husband Jeff of Belleville, New York, her nephew Jason Parker and his wife Nikki of Hudson, Florida, and many great nieces and nephews. She was also well loved by many friends, especially Debbie Cavendar, Mary Kopman, Maritza Sneddon and Lynn Holeman.A celebration of Ann?s extraordinary life will be held at the Callahan House, 312 Terry St., Longmont, on Friday, March 9th from 4:00 to 6:00 pm.
