

Arthur (Art) J. Mooney, Jr., of Longmont, died July 28, 2010, at Longmont United Hospital after a full life of 81 years.Art was born May 24, 1929 in Bronx, NY the son of Arthur and Marion Mooney. Following his high school graduation he served four years in the Naval Services during the time of the Korean conflict and then went on to attend the University of Denver, graduating with a degree in accounting. Art started his accounting career with Price Waterhouse and then moved to corporate accounting and finance roles with Ball Aerospace Corporation, Statitrol, Inc., and Storage Technology Corporation. On January 10, 1953 Art married Loretta Martino in Scarsdale, NY. Art and Loretta moved to Denver, Colorado in 1954 and have resided in Boulder and Longmont since that time.Art and Loretta are members of St. John The Baptist Catholic Church in Longmont. Art was an avid sports fan who followed all the local professional and college sports teams, most avidly the Colorado Rockies. Art was also an avid golfer and was a member of Fox Hill Country Club for many years. In his spare time, Art enjoyed drafting and modeling house plans.Art is survived by his wife Loretta of Longmont, his sons Kevin (Tracy) Mooney of Gering, NE and Brian (Deborah) Mooney of Westminster, CO; daughters Kathleen (Garry) Albert of Highlands Ranch, CO, Bridget (John) Harman of Alpharetta, GA, and Karen Ljungdahl of Longmont, CO; and brothers Donald (Nancy) Mooney of Pinehurst, NC and Richard Mooney of Lakewood, CO. Further surviving are grandchildren Sean and Kyle Albert; Heather, Shea, and Camden Harman; Riley Ljungdahl; Tami (Kevin) Fordyce and two great grandchildren Patrick Mooney and Katie Curr. Art's parents and brother Robert Mooney preceded him in death. Cremation has been entrusted to Howe Mortuary and Cremation Service. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 7, 2010, at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church, Adoration Chapel. Inurnment will be at Fort Logan National Cemetery at a later date.
