Arthur "Art" Ray Tibbetts

Art was born on November 8, 1934 in Revanna, Nebraska to George O. Tibbetts & Sophie M. (Besinek) Tibbetts. He was the oldest of 4 children, with 3 younger sisters. Art grew up in Revanna, NE and in high school he was on the football, basketball and track team, lettering in all three.

After graduating high school in 1953, Art joined the Army and served in “Company D” 80th Heavy Tank Battalion, spending 3 years in Korea.

Upon returning to the US, Art met and married Flora Berniece Miller in Ansley, NE on June 5, 1960. They had 2 children Jeff and Karen, later divorcing in 1983. They lived in Grand Island, NE and then moved to Hastings, NE where Art became the manager of his own store, Cooks Paint & Varnish. In 1978, he transferred to Colorado, residing in Longmont for 43 years, retiring in 2000.

Anyone who knew Art, knows his favorite two things were Golf and Beagles he fostered then adopted. They both surrounded his whole life.

Art is proceeded in death by his mother and father, Flora Berniece Miller, & numerous aunts and uncles. Also, his very special friend Glenna Cerny of 25+ years.

Art is survived by his two children, Son, Jeff (Lisa) Tibbetts of Denver, CO and daughter, Karen Humphrey-Wurl (Cole) of Longmont, CO. His grandsons: Brandon (Kimberly) Humphrey of Commerce City, CO, and Tyler Thrush of Longmont Granddaughter Brittany Humphrey (Mary Hoxsey) of Longmont, CO, Three sisters: Tib (Virginia)Larry Henderson of Springfield, NE JoAnne Taylor (Bruce Rogers) of Sayre, PA and Dorothy Deschane of Lincoln, NE. He is further survived by several nieces & nephews.

Per Art’s request, his family will set him free in the Spring.
