
Betty Lou was born on July 16, 1933 in Atwood, Colorado to Alexander Bauer and Anne Sewald Bauer. She was raised on the eastern plains where her father farmed and ranched, before moving to Longmont where the Bauers continued to farm and raise cattle for many years. She attended and graduated from Longmont High School in 1951, and attended the University of Colorado in Boulder.
On January 28, 1956 Betty Lou married Jack Dorr at St. John’s Catholic Church, Longmont.
Betty Lou was an avid traveler, and she and her husband, Jack travelled extensively. There was no location in the world she had wanted to see, that she had not visited. She enjoyed her family, and later in life she enjoyed her grandchildren and attending their many school activities. She also enjoyed her many friends, especially their weekly bridge games.
Surviving are her husband of Longmont; two sons Dana Dorr and wife Valerie of Louisville and Kent Dorr and wife Dawn, of Thornton; two sisters Joan (Joe) Gold of Longmont and Dorothy Anne (George) Davis of Golden and 5 grandchildren Lindsey, Danielle, Nathan, Mary, and Morgan Dorr.
No visitation hours are scheduled.
A Vigil service will be held at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, March 10, for friends and family at the Howe Mortuary Chapel.
A private family funeral mass will be held at St. John’s Catholic Church, with entombment to follow at the Longmont Mountain View Cemetery.
