

Bradley V. Hanson, 72, of Longmont passed away October 18, 2016 at his home with his loving family at his side.He was born March 19, 1944 in Grand Forks, North Dakota to Vance and Lola (Johnson) Hanson. He graduated from high school in Reynolds, North Dakota in 1962. Following his graduation, Brad enlisted in the United States Navy, serving until his honorable discharge on October 21, 1966.On May 27, 1967 in Danube, Minnesota Brad married Karen L. Penke. They moved to Longmont in 1968.Brad began his career with IBM in 1967 and retired in 1997. He was employed in the finance department. After leaving IBM he worked part time at the Hygiene Feed Store and then at the Super Wash car wash at 19th and Terry St. for six years until May of 2016.He was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, American Legion Post 32, Longmont Moose Lodge 1549 and the National Rifle Association.Brad was an avid sportsman and an avid collector.He was preceded in death by his parents, infant sister Brenda and brother Bruce.Brad is survived by his wife Karen Hanson of Longmont, four children Jenni Hanson of Longmont, Jim Hanson of Longmont, Dan Hanson of Cape Girardeau, MO and David Hanson and his girlfriend Mary Herman of Arvada, three grandchildren Tyler Hanson, Toby Hanson and Khai Slaughter of Longmont, sister-in-law Faith Hanson of North Dakota, and many nieces and nephews.Memorial services will be held 11:00am Friday, October 28, 2016 at First Evangelical Lutheran Church. Cremation entrusted to Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory. Private inurnment at Ryssby Cemetery.
