

Carol Jean Thieking, 76, passed away Sunday, June 20, 2021, in Longmont CO. She was born April 24, 1945, in Philadelphia, PA, the oldest daughter of Loyd and Eleanor (Exton) Newcomer. Her father was a career Navy pilot and the family moved many times as she was growing up. She was a 1963 graduate of Wasson High School in Colorado Springs. She attended the University of Colorado, where she met her future husband, Leonard Thieking. They were married July 29, 1967, and had one son, David. She and her husband resided for many years in Fort Scott, KS, returning to Longmont in 2014 following Leonard’s retirement. Carol was a mother, homemaker, and volunteer for several organizations. She enjoyed reading, cooking, and quilting. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her husband of the home, son David Thieking and wife Mamie, Snowmass, CO, her five sisters, Linda (Steven) Thieking of Savage, MN, Bonnie Sheline, Oak Harbor, WA, Marlene Fitzpatrick, Lakewood, CO, Paula Newcomer, Boulder, CO, Valorie West, Castle Pines, CO, and several nieces and nephews.
Following a private service, burial will be in Longmont Mountain View Cemetery.
