

Charles Duane Lewis, of Longmont, died January 20, 2010 at HospiceCare Center in Louisville, CO. He was 80.Duane was born July 1, 1929 in Wauneta, Nebraska, the son of Charles Laurel and Myrtle (Litten) Lewis. On June 2, 1962 he married Verna Lee in Firestone, Colorado. She preceded him in death on October 29, 2009. Together Duane and Verna operated Lewis Cleaners in Fort Lupton, for 18 years. Duane was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Fort Lupton, and had served in the US Army from 1951-1953.Survivors include his daughter Terri (John) Ryan of Longmont, a son Larry (Diana) Lewis of Boulder; 6 grandchildren Jason (Shelley) Ryan, Cody (Sarah Heflin) Russell, Shawn (Amanda Arguello) Ryan, Benny (Katie Spence) Lewis, Becky Lewis and Lonnie Lewis; and 2 great grandchildren Trinity Heflin and Mariah Annabelle Ryan and a sister Eleanor (Horace) Good. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Elda Simpson.Visitation hours will be from 12:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, January 25 at the Howe Mortuary.Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 26 at the First United Methodist Church, Ft. Lupton, CO. Burial will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver, Staging Area B.
