
Charles Albert Wilcox died April 9th, 2012, at Longmont United Hospital. He was 56. Charles was born September 25th, 1955 in Bay Shore, NY to Erwin Forrest and Dorothy (DiFrancesco) Wilcox. In 1974, he graduated from East Islip High School in East Islip, NY. He then moved to Boulder in 1974, and on to Longmont in 1976. He graduated from the University of Colorado, Boulder where he received a Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences (1978) and a Master's in Micro Biology (1980). Charles worked for the University of Colorado as a Student Advisor in the English and Comparative Literature Departments, and as a Lecturer in the Film Departments. He enjoyed teaching film classes, especially classic and horror films. He was honored to be a research assistant for Dr. Bruce Kawin as he worked on the 10th Edition of his textbook entitled, A Short History of The Movies.Charles volunteered with the Longmont Historical Society. He enjoyed movies, music, reading, history, and cooking. Spending time with family and friends was cherished. Chuck delighted in creating multi-course dinners, especially for holiday gatherings. While on a recent trip to NYC, he had a fabulous time attending a NY Yankees' game in the Yogi Berra Box.Charles is preceded in death by his parents; and his eldest brother, Edwin Forrest Wilcox, Jr. He is survived by his brother, John Wilcox of Longmont; his sister, Dorothy Fondak and her husband, Dr. Jeffrey Fondak of Carthage, NY; and three nephews; Ted Fondak of Clinton, NY, Andy Fondak of Watertown, NY, and Josh Wilcox of Loveland, CO.A memorial service will be held 10:30 AM, Saturday, May 12, 2012, at the UMC Aspen Room at the University of Colorado, Boulder campus. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to the Charles Wilcox Memorial Fund in c/o Ahlberg Funeral Chapel. Cremation at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory.
