A Colorado native, Char Jones went to be with the Lord on December 2, 2021 at 10:10 AM from St. Anthony North Hospital at the age of 77, after a three-week battle with Covid-19. Her three children Sherri Rocha, Lisa Criger, and Mark Jones were grateful to be at her side and to hold her hands until she passed into the arms of Jesus.
Charlotte Elizabeth was born on D-day June 6, 1944 to Anthony and Elizabeth “Betty” Stringari in Cañon City, Colorado. She was the eldest of four children. Her siblings were Anthony, Betty, and Larry Stringari. She grew up a small-town girl and graduated from Cañon City High School class of 1962 before attending Colorado State University in Fort Collins.
While living in Denver in her mid-twenties, Charlotte met Gary Jones when a group of friends living down the hall from her went out for a night on the town. That was the beginning of a relationship that led to a marriage of 45 years.
Great with numbers and managing details, Char worked as a bookkeeper for the Dworak Agency and St. Vrain Valley Schools. Even in retirement, Char continued to do the books for the non-profits St. Vrain Manor and Friends of Belle-Rivière until her passing.
Hardworking as she was, Char’s real passions in life were family and friends. Her love languages were giving and serving. She delighted in (and stressed over) preparing elaborate spreads for family gatherings. In fact, eating at Char’s table was always an event, and you never went home hungry or empty-handed. You could always count on her to be the last to sit down to a meal and the first to get up to begin cleaning. Famous for her huge dinners, pancakes, banana bread, and endless holiday treats, Char always made you feel special and so well cared for.
Char loved having fun, and found great delight in the hearts of her grandchildren. Her smile and her laugh were infectious, just as her hospitality was legendary. Char was the central hub of her family, and she is greatly missed. Her generosity impacted the lives of so many, as she sought to reflect the love of Jesus to all those around her: her children, grandchildren, neighbors, new acquaintances, and her church family at White Fields Community Church.
Char was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony and Betty Stringari, and her husband Gary Jones. She leaves behind three children Sherri (Mario), Lisa (Tim), and Mark (Molly). Char’s loving grandchildren are Taylor Rocha, and Eli, Reece, & Emmy Criger.
A Celebration of Life was held at White Fields Community Church in Longmont, Colorado on December 18, 2021.
