Cheryl Ann May

Cheryl was born on March 6, 1949 in Fort Collins, CO to her parents, Jerry and Alice Cuba. In her earliest years she lived in Las Cruces, NM; Kwajalein (Marshall Islands); and Playa Del Rey, CA as her father’s career as an aerospace engineer brought the growing family to many locations. She pursued a career in aerospace communications and missile tracking, working for Kentron and RCA. Locations included Kwajalein (Marshall Islands), Antigua and then Ascension Island, where she met her future husband, Randy May. They married in September 1978 in Daytona Beach, FL while Randy attended Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Their adventures brought them to Georgia, California, Oklahoma and lastly, Alabama.

Cheryl returned to Colorado in July 2011 to be near to her family. She volunteered with Faith Community Lutheran Church as a Stephen Minister. Cheryl loved dogs and also volunteered with Longmont Humane Society. She enjoyed attending family gatherings and spending time with friends. Cheryl was a vibrant Christian, and her faith and kindness were on display for all to see. She always went out of her way to express an interest in others and to pray for their needs.

Cheryl is survived by her daughters, Toni May of Fairbanks, AK, Trish (Ivan) Gutierrez of Fontana, CA and Mindy May of Enid, OK; her sisters, Kathleen (Bob) Gabelman of Laredo, TX and Rebecca Cuba of Longmont, CO; her brothers Michael (Patti) Cuba of Niwot, CO and Jerry (Jen) Cuba of Windsor, CO; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Randy and her parents, Jerry and Alice Cuba.

Cremation has taken place under the care of Howe Mortuary. A memorial will take place on June 19, 2021 at 10:30AM at 10325 Sailor Court, Longmont, CO 80501. In lieu of flowers, please donate in memory of Cheryl to Longmont Humane Society.
