
Claude Larry Elliott, 87, who earned a Purple Heart at the Chosin Reservoir during the Korean War, passed away unexpectedly on September 4, 2017. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Carole Arlene Elliott (Rector), his son Larry Edward Eddie Elliott as well as his parents Warner James and Edris (Cheesebrew) Elliott as well as his brother Jim.Larry is survived by three daughters, Sue (David) Smith, Laura Elliott, and Allysun (Dale) Berg. He is also survived by 28 grandchildren and great-grandchildren, his brother J , two sisters-in-law, as well as numerous cousins, nephews, nieces and friends. Mr. Elliott was born on January 1, 1930 in Point Pleasant West Virginia and then graduated from high school in Columbus Ohio in 1948. On September 4, 1950 he went active duty with the Marine Corps and was sent to Korea where 2 months and 11 days later he was shot by opposing troops. After he left the military he married the love of his life Arlene on April 11, 1953 and in 1956 the family moved to Tucson Arizona. He retired as a school counselor and teacher from Tucson Unified School District in 1985. In 1999 he moved to Colorado where he lived until his passing. A gathering of family and friends for a Celebration of Life will be held at his favorite restaurant in Longmont, 3 Margaritas (2350 Main St, Longmont, CO 80501) on Tuesday September 19 from 5:30 PM “ 7:00 PM. Everyone is welcome to attend and share your special Larry story.A memorial will be held with full military honors in Tucson at East Lawn Palms Mortuary (5801 E Grant Rd, Tucson, AZ 85712) on Thursday September 28 at 3:00 PM. In lieu of flowers donations are requested to the Honor Flight of Northern Colorado (http://www.honorflightnortherncolorado.org/) or to the VFW (https://www.vfw.org/).
