

He was born in a farmhouse in Elyria, Ohio under a wandering star to Archie and Grace Haynes. He had a younger brother, Robert Haynes, who preceded him in death.
Clyde graduated from Elyria High School in 1940. He attended Fenn College (now Cleveland State University), obtaining his degree in electrical engineering. He then attended Western Reserve Law School (now Case Western) obtaining his juris doctor degree. Clyde put himself through all 7 years of school.
In 1948 he married Lenore Lucille “Sue” Lawson and they raised three boys. They travelled together throughout their 56 years of marriage.
Between 1947 and 1961 Clyde worked for a number of law firms and companies as a patent attorney in Cleveland, Grand Rapids, Michigan, and New York. In 1961 Clyde, Sue and the three boys moved to Pelham, New York where the boys were raised.
In 1961 Clyde began his employment with St. Regis Paper Company in New York, NY. He became assistant secretary and patent counsel, overseeing its patent litigation around the country and its international licensing. His job took him all over the United States and the world, including Japan, Europe, and Kenya. He retired from St. Regis in 1976. Sue and he moved back to Ohio and he opened a private practice for approximately 5 years, and then fully retired (or as he said, became a “professional loafer”). Sue and Clyde followed their three boys to Colorado in 1981, and then moved between Colorado and New Mexico several times.
Clyde moved back to New Mexico for a little bit following Sue’s death in 2004, and then moved to Longmont where he resided until his passing.
Clyde was admitted to practice before numerous Courts including the United States Supreme Court, several federal courts of appeals and district courts, the United States Patent Office, the United States Court of Customs and Patent Appeals, the Supreme Courts of Ohio and Michigan, and the Dominion of Canada Patent Office. He was also a member of the American Bar Association, American Management Association and U.S. Trademark Association. He was also a registered engineer in Ohio.
Clyde was a member of the Masons for over 70 years, a member of the Scottish Rite since 1979, and a worthy patron of the Order of Eastern Star, Eastern Star. Clyde enjoyed the outdoors, activities with family and engaging in conversations with people.
Clyde is survived by his three sons, Craig (Sharon) Haynes, and twins Mark (Lily) Haynes and David (Billie, RIP 2015)) Haynes, grandchildren Carolynn (Dustin) Hogg, Johnny (Carrie) Hinkle, Amber (Frank) Venezia, Justin (Elizabeth) Haynes, Andrea Haynes, Elsa Haynes, Mireia Haynes, and great grandchildren William Hinkle, Barry Hinkle, Heather Hogg, Erynn Hogg, Keven Hogg, Francis “Frank” Venezia, Amelia Venezia and Sophia Venezia.
A Memorial Service was held at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel on Friday, November 12, 2021. A Graveside Service will be conducted at Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst, Ohio sometime during the summer of 2022 where Clyde will be laid to rest next to Sue and his parents.
