On January 31, 2012 Connie Carter left her loving family to join the Lord. Connie was born February 2, 1953 in Longmont to Evelyn and Gillard Miller.Going to school in Longmont she also waitressed at several of the local restaurants including the Home Café and the Longs Peak café. Connie graduated from Erie High school in 1971.On June 24, 1972 she married John Carter from Lyons. They first moved to Allenspark where she worked at the hummingbird Café. After telling John she thought he was hiding her out in the boondocks they moved to Lyons. Here Connie worked at the Foothills restaurant and also later at the Hygiene restaurant. In 1979 after John was laid off from construction they bought the Lyons grocett where she and John ran it for 2 years. After selling the store Connie became employed with the new Wal-Mart on south Hover street. There she helped get the store open, then worked in layaway and later moved into the office where she took care of payroll. After 20 years with Wal-Mart Connie retired to stay home and help raise her new grandson.Connie loved to boat fish and go camping in their R.V. where she and John went to Wyoming many times; she also loved Carter Lake and Flatirons Reservoir. Some of her favorite times were camping at Flatiron in the winter. At these times there were never a whole lot of people camping and even if the weather was bad they would just turn on the heater in the R.V. and play cards by the hour. Over the years she and John took several trips in the R.V. one of the most memorable was in 1998 they decided to go to San Diego for Super Bowl XXXII. With their friend Kay they decorated the R.V. in Broncos colors and took off for San Diego. Arriving there they were able to get a camping spot in one of the parking lots at the stadium and spent the next 3 days having a big tail gate party. Connie's last memorable trip was about a year ago when the whole family went to Disneyland for the grandsons 4th birthday.Over the past years Connie and john went on several cruises starting on their 25th wedding anniversary and every five years after that. This year they had begun planning for their 40th in Alaska. Some of Connie's other big loves beside her family was Broncos football (especially the Elway years). Partying where she was always trying to make friends with complete strangers, and going to Black hawk where she could sit at the slot machines for hours.Connie was preceded in death by her mother and dad; her grandma and grandpa Miller; her sister Debbie; her niece Lisa; and her cousin Bill Jefferies. She is survived by her husband John of Lyons; son Travis of Denver; her daughter Jennifer of Lyons; her grandson Bryson; her granddaughter Morgan who she loved with all her heart; her aunt and uncle Ron and Darlene Jefferies of Brighton; Her aunt and uncle Pat and Tommy Cantowine of California; her aunt and uncle Jackie and Dale Durbin of Northglenn; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.Connie is going to be greatly missed by all.Memorial service 11:00 AM Saturday February 4, 2012 at the Ahlberg Funeral Chapel.
