As a teenager, his family moved to Laramie, Wyoming, where he graduated from Laramie High School. Dale served in the Army for two years before attending Rockmont College, where he met his wife, Rowena Ernst. Together, they shared 62 wonderful years of marriage and raised two sons.
Dale was a man of many talents and held various jobs throughout his life. He had a passion for building and fixing machinery and enjoyed playing the guitar.
Dale is survived by his two sons, Daniel and Doyle; his brother, Lawrence Smith; and two sisters, Shirley Ulm and Carolyn Ledford.
