Dan H. Morris

Dan H. Morris passed away on August 26, 2015 at LifeCare Center of Longmont. He was 96 years old.Dan was born on October 2, 1918 in Sioux Falls, SD to Lester M. and Stella B. (Halloway) Morris. He graduated from Grinnell College in Grinnell, IA. Dan served in the U.S. Navy during WWII aboard a Destroyer in the Pacific.He married Bertha B. Brown in 1940 in Kirksville, MO and together they moved their family to Longmont, CO in 1952.Dan worked at the Model Laundry from 1961-1983 where he retired as the plant manager; he stayed on for an additional 19 years doing odds and ends and part time work.He attended the First United Methodist Church; and was an original charter member of the Longmont wood carving club. Dan enjoyed wood carving, and he was an avid reader and history buff. He was a family historian and genealogist and quite the story teller.He was preceded in death by his wife Bertha; his parents; and his four siblings Walt and Bill Morris, Pauline Wagner, and Mary Bryant.He is survived by his five sons Mike (Linda) Morris, Dan (Nancy) Morris, Roger (Tricia) Morris, Gary (Kathy) Morris, and John (Frances) Morris; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great great-grandchild.A funeral service will be held at 1:30 PM Wednesday September 2, 2015 at the Ahlberg Funeral Chapel with viewing prior to the service.
