

It is with heavy hearts that we mourn the passing of Daniel L. Hewitt, an amazing and beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend to many. Dan entered peace and rest on November 21, 2024 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
He was born on January 24, 1936 in Greeley, Colorado. His parents Ted and Esther were farming and raising cattle but then relocated to Kersey Colorado where they ran a service station. Another move took them to Longmont where he attended school until graduation from High School.
Soon after graduation he enlisted in the US Army and served basic training at Fort Ord and then to Germany for 1 1/2 years before returning to Longmont in 1956.
Work experience was with Sunstrand as a precision grinder and after a layoff then started to work for Public Service as an electric meterman which he worked for 36 years retiring as a working foreman. He also did part time work for Hajek Chevrolet as a "car jockey" for a number of years.
He is survived by wife of 66 years, Sharon, son Chris and wife Dawn, daughter Carol and husband Vern Maltsbarger, grandchildren Luke (Ashley), Cody (Kenzie) and Ben Maltsbarger. Great grandchildren Alanah and Dallin Maltsbarger, Greysyn Addington. He was preceded in death by parents Ted & Esther Hewitt, brother John, Alex and Elizabeth Schwindt (in-laws) Joe Schwindt (brother in-law), son Curtis and granddaughter Lindsey Maltsbarger.
The family would like to give special thanks to the nurses and staff of Good Samaritan, especially Amber, Crystal, Kelly and all of his aides and his volunteer Art. We also want to thank Accent Care Hospice and their amazing team: Shelly, Katonia, Jenn, Matt and Trevor for all the loving and caring done for Dan and Sharon.
Graveside services will be held at Foothills Gardens of Memory on November 30, 2024 at 1:00PM. Contributions are requested to Good Samaritan Society 2101 Garfield Ave Loveland, Colorado 80537 or to Accent Care Hospice 4065 St. Cloud Loveland, Colorado 80538.
