

Dean Verner Graham, of Longmont, died April 24, 2006. He was 77.Dean was born on April 6, 1929 in Wellington, CO to Emory Ellis Graham and Lucy Husky. He grew up in northern Colorado, sharing time between family farms in the Ft. Collins and Mead area. He attended schools in Ft. Collins, before moving to Mead with his brother and graduating from Mead High School. He was on the basketball team.Dean married Arlowyn Alexander on January 4, 1953 in Longmont.After graduating he farmed east of Mead on his own farm for 10 years. He then joined the Safeway grocery chain, where he managed the produce department at the Arapahoe store in Boulder. He retired in 1991. Dean enjoyed athletics, participating in City League basketball, having the opportunity to play with local all-stars against the Harlem Globtrotters at the Longmont Community Building. He also played on a number of fastpitch softball teams, including the travel Mead town team. In later years he truly enjoyed watching his sons and later grandsons sports teams. Growing up enjoying big game hunting with local farm friends and later introduced his children. In addition, he was an avid fisherman, especial time spent with family up the Poudre Canyon.Preceding him in death are a son David Graham, three brothers Roscoe, Martin and Emory ?Dale? Graham and three sisters, Hazel Alderson, Helen Waneka and Jenny Noble. Surviving are his wife Arlowyn of Longmont, 4 sons Alan Graham and his wife Nancy of Tucson, AZ, Brad Graham and his wife Betty of Monroe, N.C., Clay Graham and his wife Julee of Berthoud and Kevin Graham and his wife Laura of Sacramento, CA, one sister Leota Epler of Longmont, 16 grandchildren and one great grandchild. A cremation has been entrusted to the Howe Mortuary and Crematory.Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 28, 2006 at the Howe Mortuary Chapel, with Pastor Allen Elder officiating.Memorials suggested to the Colorado Division of Wildlife, 6060 Broadway, Denver, CO 80216.
