Donald Carl Fry Sr., a proud veteran and retired professional truck driver, passed away peacefully at the age of 89. Born on October 27, 1936, in Dayton, Ohio, he was the son of the late Everett Adley Fry and Florence May Nice. Donald grew up on Clover Street in Montgomery County alongside his older siblings, Arthur and Marian, both of whom preceded him in death. A man of service, Donald joined the United States Navy and was stationed at the Great Lakes Naval Base in Chicago, Illinois. He was later honorably discharged, carrying the values of discipline and hard work with him throughout his life. For many years, Donald was a professional over-the-road truck driver. He was rarely alone on the open road, as he was accompanied by the love of his life and wife, Doris Louise Fry. Together, they traveled across most of the United States, sharing a lifetime of adventure until her passing on July 27, 2021. Donald's life was marked by both great love and significant loss. He was preceded in death by his three children: Donald Carl Fry Jr., Louis Everett Fry, and Mary Elizabeth Fry. He was also preceded in death by his three stepsons: Ronald Eugene Parker, Curtis Lynn Parker Jr., and William Keith Parker. He is survived by a large and devoted family, including: Step Daughter-in-laws: Zola Parker, Vickie Parker, and Sandra Parker. Step Grandchildren: Jason Parker, Jermy Parker, Justin Parker, Dean Parker, Tia Drown, Autumn Parker, and Billy Ray Larragoite. Great-Grandchildren: Makayla Carlstrom (Pearce), Marissa Parker, Makenzie Parker, Blake Parker, Serenity Parker, Jocelyn Aragon, Aiden Parker, Braxton Larragoite, Lillian Drown, Leah Drown, and Nathaniel Drown. Great-Great-Grandchildren: Landen Parker, Lanaya Carlstrom, Leon Carlstrom, and Chloe Parker. Donald also leaves behind his sister-in-law, Virginia Clark of Tennessee; his brother-in-law, Jerry Mullen of Thornton, Colorado; and his uncle, Hershel Roy Fry of Minnesota. He is further survived by his cousins: Janet Pounds (Michigan), Linda Wayne W. (Michigan), John Fry (Arizona), Randal Blair (California), Carol Jones (Oklahoma), Ardelle Yoo (Arkansas), Kathy Fleming (Michigan), Linnea Ralter (Arkansas), and Anita Peterson (Michigan). In his later years, Donald was blessed with the compassionate care of Delana Peacock and Chris Starks. His family wishes to extend a special thank you to his "Awesome Support Team" from the Veterans Affairs in Cheyenne, Wyoming—Lucie Kuhlman, Laura Gervais, Shawnda Nelson, Marcie Hunt, and Debbie Pozarnsky—whose visits were a highlight of his days.
