Donald Red Eugene Stever

Donald Eugene Stever, 80, of Longmont, passed away May 19, 2018 in Aurora, CO. Don was born April 11, 1938 on the family farm in Madison County, IA to Donald A. and Madge (Thomas) Stever.He attended Kincaid High School in Kincaid, KS. During his senior year he enlisted in the United States National Guard and served for six years. Don graduated high school in 1957 and in November of that year, he married Janice Brownback in Topeka, KS. In 1975, they moved from Topeka to Longmont, CO.Don had a talent for automotive body work and made a lifetime career working with auto glass. He became self employed and opened Red's Automotive in Longmont, CO working until his retirement in 2017.On February 12, 1982, Don married Linda Gida in Longmont, CO. Don, also known as Red, enjoyed fishing, walking his dogs, and spending time with his family.He is preceded in death by his parents and one son, Chris Stever.Don is survived by his loving wife, Linda Stever, seven children; Randy Stever of Long Island, NY, John (Susi) Gida of Johnstown, CO, Belinda (Mark) Best of Longmont, CO, Cindy Saenz of Longmont, CO, Dawn (J ) Rhodes of Frederick, CO, Michelle (Jim) Anderson of Berthoud, CO and Jennifer (Michael) Marr of Longmont, CO, twelve grandchildren; Michael Stever, Krista (Kade) Davison, Andrew (Summer) Anderson, Katy Anderson, Richard (Marga) Saenz, Julie (Ron) Saenz, Michael Best, Brian (Jess) Best, Melissa (Cody) McFarlin, Stephanie Bunn, JAMR Rhodes and Shannon Rhodes, thirteen great-grandchildren, one brother, Steve Stever, three sisters; Loretta Grasty, Janice (Jim) Crestwell, and Annette Chovanic and his beloved dogs, Lacey and Jack.Memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 26, 2018 at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, 326 Terry Street, Longmont, CO 80501. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Longmont Humane Society.
