She was the first born of Betty Magill Greene and James Michael Greene. Donna graduated from the University of Dayton and taught high school French and Drama where she is fondly remembered by her former students as "Mademoiselle Greene." When Donna moved to Colorado, she began a long career in retail, first as a buyer for May D&F and then as manager of The Denver and later as merchandise manager of the May D&F in Boulder. During her early years in Boulder, she lived in a historic home on Maxwell Street where she met the love of her life.
Donna married Bob McCraith in 1992, they created a fulfilling life with tenderness and adoration. Together they owned and managed The Mole Hole gift stores in Denver and Boulder. After selling the stores and retiring, her focus shifted to serving others. She worked at Boulder Social Services for ten years, as well as volunteering at AINC where she read for the blind, and for Boulder Food Share. Bob and Donna found true pleasure riding their tandem bike and exploring the world's great cities. One of her joys was exploring New York City on numerous walking tours and attending the theater as often as possible.
They passionately believed in social justice and are longtime supporters of the Equal Justice Initiative and the I Have A Dream Foundation in Boulder. Donna was a loyal member of two Mah Jongg groups and a Book Club.
Donna always exuded contagious energy and was a fun and beloved Aunt to her nieces, nephews, and their families: Kiley, Micaela, Charlie, and Leo Mack; Brent Oerther, Lauren Mack and Katie Wegner, and Alisa, Josh and Weller Gray. She was a caring and loving sister and sister-in-law to Anne and Jim Mack and Michele and Dan Oerther.
Donna was diagnosed with cancer in 2019. She fought the horrendous disease with grace and dignity, with Bob by her side, until she died February 3, 2021. The family has chosen to celebrate her life at a later date.
